I have a 2009 230 with the ZR409 engine. This engine has been extremely sensitive to the specified and expensive RP030011 Iridium spark plug. With alternate plugs the engine acted like I dropped a cylinder or 2. I am on my third set of plugs and my prior attempt at using an "equal" and less expensive replacement was a failure.
The original plugs are no longer manufactured and Pleasurecraft has updated the original iridium plug specification to a Platinum Plug. My past experience with an alternate plug was not good so I am wondering if has anyone has had a similar experience or installed the new spec. There is some old new stock available and I am thinking perhaps I need to store a couple sets in the boat house.
From Nautique Parts:
RP030010 - for 5.0L and 5.7L GM engines (PCM Excalibur and Pro-Sport)Note PCM has migraged plug types- what you remove may not be the same look or AC/Delco number- but they are the OEM Platium plugs.
RP030011 - for 6.0L GM engines (ZR409, ZR4, - are among the names of 6.0L engines that PCM marketed)
PCM ENGINE PUG GAP FOR RP030010: EFI ENGINES THROUGH 2001 = .045, FROM 2002 TO NOW = .060.
Please note that these plugs are now platinum. The old plugs were iridum but those are no longer available so PCM has switched to these. They are basically the same plug as before, just a different material.
