    Promariner Prosport HD12 onboard charger installation

    The onboard charger which came with the boat when new, a Promariner Prosport HD12, is failing. I think I have concluded it needs replacing. Disappointing really since it was replaced under warranty 2 years ago.

    Here is the issue. The installation either by Nautique at the factory or my dealer before delivery (I cannot get a straight answer) has modified the charger. Specifically, connector blocks have been added, presumably to route the wiring around the boat, and the fuses are 15A blade ATO fuses (not the tube fuses that come with the Proport). Promariner have made clear this voids their warranty. And the boat is just out of its 5-year warranty.

    Even if I buy a replacement HD12 I will need to splice connector blocks into the wiring to use the current harness. And this immediately voids the warranty.

    So, the question is for those people who have any Proport on any G, is it installed like the pictures of mine? Or does yours appear to be like an out-of-the-box Prosport

    Update. The very helpful people at Nautique tech support confirmed that they source these chargers from Promariner and modify them by splicing connector blocks (Deutsch), adding extra wire, so as to extend the wiring through the floor and to the batteries. They then put blade ATO fuses at the battery rather than replacing back in the Promariner glass tube fuses.

    This presents two issues;

    1. The charger has no warranty from Promariner the moment Nautique do the modifications. So even before it is installed, the only warranty is the usual Nautique 5 year warranty on the boat. This has bitten me as my boat is just out of Nautique warranty but the charger (replaced under warranty) has failed again. Sigh.

    2. Since Nautique modify the Promariner, if you buy a replacement it is not going to come with the Deutsch connector blocks. So you must buy it from Nautique direct, or get into cutting and splicing. Either way you have no warranty on it. So I contacted Nautiqueparts.com and they said the ones they sell are direct from Promariner and are not modified - I would need to do that myself..

    These things cost $200 which is not a major expense on a G23. But the other point is a real pain
