    2020 G23 No temp/depth reading.

Appreciate any help with this new problem. 2020 G23.

The depth and water temp readings on the LINC screen are both reading zero. Under system settings Biducer shows “NO CANBUS COMM”. It’s been no problem until today.

I’ve found the “AIRMAR SMART DEPTH/TEMP” sensor next to the drain plug. It’s stamped 20-635-01 which I believe means it’s a DT800 according to the web. The grey push connector for that seems fine having pulled it and reconnected it.

I’ve been under the dash and there are a bunch of cables and I’ve no idea which is which. Other than I pulled and reconnected all connectors in the hope that it fixes it, I don’t know what else to do.

Before concluding the sensor has failed and spending the $400 for a new one (plus whatever to install it) does anyone have anything I might try?

thanks I appreciate the knowledge of the people on this forum.

Mine was reading 640' and something like 98 degrees. Replaced it last month and everything works again. jpwhit has posted on this a couple times and mentioned that the transducers are a bit fragile and tend to only last about 4 or 5 years. Go to Ball of Spray and you'll see a couple posts there stating the same and having the same issue you're having.

Thank you for commenting. I agree it is almost certain this thing needs replacing. I contacted Airmar and they said the DT800 has been superseded (some sort of Garmin tie up) but at a push they could supply one. Its annoying that it has failed after 2 years and another $500 but unless I want to modify the hull fitting I have to go with it
