Brass or stainless steel cotter pin

Removed an OJ and placed a new PT D22. I have both brass and stainless cotter pins. My gut says brass as the nut and propeller appear to be brass, however the shaft is stainless. What to do with having two metal types not playing nice.

All I have seen on boats is stainless & that's what I would use. What are you using for the prop shaft key?

The one that was on the OJ. Has a pin keeper that it fits into the shaft. Stainless it is unless someone has an argument for the brass?

I've never seen anything but stainless. It's just there in the extremely unlikely event that the prop nut backs off.

I would use either on my boat as it's just a mechanical safety. That said, I've only seen stainless so that's what I use.
