When I turn the ignition on, but have not started the engine yet, the fuel gauge reads 0%. Is this normal? Or should it show the level of the fuel?. It's not until the engine is running when it displays the fuel level accurately. Is it possible it could be a bad sending unit?

Totally normal. Nothing is wrong. There should be three start button press stages. First turns on misc electronics. Second pressurizes the fuel, which is why it then reads the fuel level. Last press (the third) starts the engine.
You are good.

Interjon The fuel level does not read until the engine starts (third press of the start button). My question was, should it read the fuel level upon the second press of the start button? Based upon the response you provided, the answer is yes. Since mine isn't reading after pressing the start button the second time, any thoughts on what might be causing that issue?
