I have a 2001 gt40 air nautique. recently started to sound like a misfire. engine feels sluggish and has trouble accelerating past about 25 or 30 mph. it does not have that power that I know the engine normally has. I checked filter in fcc and was good. no water in fcc either. checked the plugs and they looked good. cables and plugs were changed maybe 150 hours ago. motor has about 620 hours on it. very well kept by previous owner. I bought it last march and it has been great until now. i tried Seafoam a while back when it was a bit sluggish and that kinda resolved it but was not perfect. any thoughts??

Im in luck..easy fix. I thought the plugs were good but after further inspection I pulled one off at a time with the motor running and noticed the motor not change after I pulled the second one. I took the plug off and connected it to check for spark at the ground. yup, no spark. I did the same for the rest of them and I changed out all the plugs and boat runs like new with great acceleration and full power. I looked back at service history (from previous owner who took it to the dealer each time) and although I thought they looked good they had been replaced about 5 years ago which was only 160 hours of use…I hope this helps anyone else. Looking forward to riding this weekend.
