    Thru hull transducer question

I have a 2001 air nautique. Is this what the transducer is supposed to look like? To me, it looks damaged. Boat is new to me. Thanks

That's an older style paddle wheel for the perfect pass system. It needs to be able to spin freely to work properly.

A few other insights that might be helpful.

      - If your boat has been upgraded to the PP Stargazer GPS system, the paddlewheel is no longer required. With a Stargazer setup the paddlewheel will feed water temp to the system but its' no longer used for speed control.
      - Paddlewheels are a wear item and are easily rebuildable. Here's the kit: https://nautiqueparts.com/paddlewheel-replacement-kit/
      - If your PP speed control works correctly for you...ie / sets and hold speeds well, it's likely fine. But I agree that one looks a little rough and a rebuild might not hurt.

      Enjoy your new rig!

my paddle wheel was not reading speed correctly. was 2 mph slow compared to gps. just changed the wheel the other day. one of the housing "fins" was bent just like yours, probably from getting smashed by a trailer bunk. I carefully straightened the fin and installed the new paddle wheel.
no change in speed reading. still off. the linc screen will not adjust enough deviation to correct it.

I have a 2001 Ski. I installed Star Gazer PP and removed the thru-hull paddlewheel -- similar to what you are showing. I replaced the paddlewheel with a thru-hull depth gauge transducer. Works great.
