Sun just idled Boat through some mud. How to flush impeller and raw water system?

Hi all,
At the launch ramp son went to do a 360 to line up with the trailer or some silty mud. The boat stopped and had to be sort of forced ahead to start with again.

But obviously we suck up a good bit of mud. I pulled the filter in the screen and rinsed it.

Should I pull water hoses off as well to flush where is there a kind of a good procedure to follow to clear out the muck?

I would run the engine with a close eye on the temperature gauge. If all seems normal for 20 minutes or so, you should be good to go. As a "just in case" measure, you can pull the large manifold drains and poke a wire into the drain hole to see if there is any residual gunk in there. This is the same manifold drain plug that is used to winterize the engine. Also, give your raw water filter a good look. You may want to remove the filter bowl and clean it out. Be sure to use Vaseline on the threads and on the O-ring when you reinstall the filter bowl.

Yeahhhh raw water filter was packed with mud. Obviously rinse that out the second we got at home and it only ran for about two minutes to get on the trailer.

I just wasn’t sure if there was a good process to flush things out aside from mention the manifold plugs

I'd just run it and see what happens. Watch the temperature.

May want to go ahead and swap out the impeller in case it was damaged.

Your raw water strainer stops an amazing amount of debris, but like others said - watch temp if it climbs at all you may have a blockage somewhere. I think that boat has a transmission cooler and maybe some thing could get clogged there too. As Jeff says, might be a good idea to replace impeller while you're at it... Probably needs it soon anyway.

I cleaned the mud out of the filter and screen backwash the water hose a little bit and ran it on a hose.

Looks like it ran fine between 160 to 165 temp. For about 15 minutes on the hose.

I’ll try and drain/poke the freeze plug ports in the manifold at some point but everything looks good!
