Cutting Fiberglass for vent

I plan to install a subwoofer vent below the observer seat (link below). I need to cut the area below the handle (picture below). I'm thinking jigsaw or rotozip. What is the best tool? Any issues with gelcoat and these tools?

Should be fine. Use lots of tape!

It looks like they use a small reciprocating saw. A jigsaw should work. Any ideas on the blade type?

When I cut the hole out for my subwoofer I used a jig saw, and about a pack of blades. I had a multipack or small kerf and large kerf and it didn't really matter. The fiberglass just at them up after about 4 inches. I used about 8 or so blades on cutting a hole for a 12" sub. I then cleaned up the edges with a rotary rasp and sander.

I would mark the piece, and drill 1/2 inch holes every 4 inches or so. Then use the jig saw on the rest.

smaller teeth are better, big teeth grab more glass and shred it. like stated, use tape on the glass and draw your cut out. use a shop vac to get dust before it gets everywhere. bimetal blades are ok from some brand. be prepared to clean out the shop vac afterward. rough clean up can be done with a file. edge clean up can be done with low grit sand paper. jig saw would be my preferred method. cut off wheel could work in a pinch. dremel is too small and will burn up. router without a jig is possible, but high chance of peripheral damage.
