On the older Gs you had to ream the prop if it was brand new. Does anybody know what year you could stop doing that since they have updated the shaft a few times since then?

Reaming? I assume you are referring to lapping the prop to the taper of the shaft. That really is the correct way to mount a new prop onto a tapered shaft. The woodruff key is not what keeps the prop and shaft properly joined, but rather the tapered fit of prop/shaft.

On a tapered shaft you probably should lap the prop any time you change it to get the best fit. All you need is some valve grinding compound and Prussian blue and about 15-30 minutes of time. If you need to ream it, you have the wrong prop.
