Aftermarket Walk Thru

I know I’ve see at least one case of someone making an aftermarket walk thru but I’m wondering what it would really take to do this. Could the engine cover be used and the upholstery cut down to make a walkway... yes that is over simplifying it but just trying to figure out level of effort.
