Hey all, have a cooling issue on a friends 2005 SVfara SV696 with a black scorpian engine. I figure cooling issues are comparable in almost all inboards/direct drives. A couple Saturdays ago we launched at our lake and after warming up, his motor got pretty hot causing an alarm beeping and boat going into limp mode (he also complained about steering being hard to turn but I believe that's a separate issue with the steering cable). 1st thing I did was remove thermostat in case it was stuck. Still overheated...then we proceeded to check impeller and it indeed was fried with torn vanes as well. We had a spare so we replaced (in hindsight I should have preoiled it but my buddy was already putting it back together when I suggested it). It still overheated so my next guess was that there probably is blockage some where... at this point he didn't want to mess with it anymore and just wants to take it to a shop...but I still want to know why this could be happening. I tried to look for a strainer like I have in my SS but couldn't find one. Anything else I could be missing? thanks for any forthcoming answers..
