The filter inside the FCC only needs to be changed every 200 hours. It's fine that you changed it, but not really necessary at this time. I change the spin-on fuel-water separator every time I change the oil. I'm back there anyway and it's a good idea to change it regularly.

Ahhhh, yes you are right. I relooked at the paperwork that came with the cartridge filter. It was for the FCC. Here is what DH did for the service over the weekend:

Transmission fluid change, Oil filter & Oil change, replaced the impeller, replaced the "spin-on" fuel/water separator filter, and changed the FCC canister filter. That's what our service department does every year on our boat, so we were just doing the same. I don't think we missed anything - did we?

Checked the fluids after starting it in the lake. Topped off the oil and the transmission fluid. Oil is now good, but overfilled the transmission a bit. We'll have to remove a little fluid before next weekend.

We didn't feel comfortable putting the boat back in the water without it being serviced. So happy it's done now!

Nope you did everything you needed to do. That's a solid pre-season service plan there.

By the way... you had responded to me back when we first bought our boat.

I want to thank you again for your suggestions back then. DH and I seriously heeded your warnings, made that staging area checklist (I still use and take to the lake every time we go out) and you were sooooo right about the learning curve on handling the boat. I'm the person who does the docking/tie-offs and loads the boat on to the trailer when in the water. We had one very scary close call near some rocks when we first got the boat when it was extremely windy (thank God no damage to the boat), but all in all, I've learned a lot and gotten to be quite good with handling the boat at low speeds. But, you were 100% right, it really does take a lot of hours behind the wheel to be and feel confident with handling a V drive.

We just love, love, love our GS22 -- it's been the perfect boat for our family. This will be our 4th summer with it. Boy, time has gone by so fast!

Oh dang it Krav! Are you sure the tube is shredding? Your boat is a bit different from ours, we were able to finally coax it out when we had this issue and then we changed our way of extracting the oil.

Would the oil filter pick up the particles if it was shredding? You would think so, no?

Hopefully some one else will come along with a suggestion for you. Wish I could be of more help.
