New Boat Owner, doing maintenance on vdrive/transmission.

I am trying to do the fluid change on my 2007 SANTE210.

I know what fluid to use, but I keep reading transmission and v-drive.

Are these the same unit, or two different units and both need oil change?

Can you use a pump to get fluid out of both and replace fluid from top?

    Thanks.

The owners manuals for this are here. Look up top for Manuals/Brochures. I just looked and for 2007, there is no scheduled service for the v-drive. The service for the transmission is outlined in the owner's manual and PCM engine manual.

They are two different units. Yes, you can kind of pump the fluids out and change them. They are not fluids you have to change very often from what I understand. You could do them now and then not do it again for a while.

Transmission can be changed pretty easily, I just did mine the other day using an extractor. Took a little bit of doing to find DEXIII fluid which is what owners manual calls for (I wanted OEM, not the stuff that they say is compatible and ended up finding some on Amazon). Most boats only take around 1.5 quarts. Biggest thing on trans fluid is to make sure the levels stay correct and that no water gets in there and it hasnt turned milky looking. Some people replace yearly and some only check it and replace every few years. I would say that depends on condition and age. I am doing it every other year.
FYI...they say when you check transmission fluid, you do not screw the dipstick in to get accurate reading. Best to check it when boat is cold and level position.

V-drive depends on what you have. I have the PCM power plus trans and they say its maintenance free, check it a 25hrs and then annually and should only be changed if evidence of contamination is found to be present, but when you start digging it also talks about it being changed every 5yrs. Since my boat is a 2014, I will be doing that sometime soon too. I found the special fluid needed for my PCM V-drive on NautiqueParts (Mobiltrans SCH50, Synthetic Transmission Lubricant. Part #R190250), this stuff is expensive.
FYI....there is no dipstick on my boat for the v-drive, its a small square headed plug and for mine was not easy to remove at all. Plug is located on the side of the v-drive, about 6-8" above the raw water drain plug that is at very bottom of the v-drive.

I’m in the same “boat”...everyone refers me to the manual but the manual seem to indicate multiple options...some could have a Walter vdrive. While other have the power plus?

I also have a 2007 and it ma quite different than my friends 2005.

I can only find 2 dipsticks where is 2005 as and easily accessible 3rd dipstick on the vdrive.

I’m guessing i have a power plus and only need to change the granny but I’m still unsure.

Here’s a pick of what I see through the vdrive trap door.

Both your vdrive and transmission have a tag on them, you can see the one on the vdrive in your picture, its just not legible. The one for transmission is behind the vdrive (harder to see and I have to do some contortions to read mine) and will tell you the make and type. If its a PCM power plus....it will say so. The tag on my transmission is green colored

It says PowerPlus. But I can’t see a dipstick for the life of me...

I believe the dip stick is attached to the 3/8 square pegs on top. Should be two of them. One on both sides. I am having trouble finding the right oil for it. Any one know?

just finished servicing my boat for first time. Wow it’s tight spaces. My son helped me and we are ready for the summer.

Oul changed impeller changed and man did it need it. All ballast impellers changed and transmission serviced.

Wow, that did need to be replaced. Glad you did that now instead of needing a tow into the dock!

I didn’t open the drive. I just pumped out the tranny and our new oil dexroniii in it.

Here is the oil for the power plus V drive unit. You can get it from nautique parts for about $22 a qt.
Part number R190251. I was able to get out about a qt from mine this winter but i ordered 2 qts to have some just in case. Mine did not have a dip stick just the hex looking plugs one on each side. Had to cit the zip ties from the ballast pump lines to move them out of the way to get good access. Pumped out and refilled up to just below where threads start.
