1993 Nautique Dash on 1997 Nautique

Hi, I'm from Argentina and I own a 1997 Ski Nautique with a GT40 Engine. 4 years ago the whole dash was stolen and since then the boat has been unused. This year i was able to get a entire 1993 nautique dash. It has 3 connectors (2 black and 1 white) just like the original dash. I connect the connectors, when I press the ignition button, it turns on the red light and then I turn the key and the fuel pump works (i hear the noise) but the engine doesnt starts. I hear a click- click noise as if it were something related with the relays. My question is if it can be something related to the connectors. because the dash I installed is different from the original. I will thank any suggestions for solving the problem. (The boat actually have 300 hours and always worked well until i had the robbery)

Normally a click like that would point toward the starter relay, which is a very common failure on these engines. I bet the dash you got is completely compatible, but I am not positive. I would try replacing the relay first, and go from there.

Marcelo, that really is too bad that you haven't been able to use the boat because of that theft. Really sucks that someone would do that.

Like Jeff, I'm guessing it is compatible, though certainly possible that the same connectors have different pin/wire locations. Do all the accessories work when the key is on, blower and bilge pump and lights and horn? That would be a good sign that they are wired the same. Can you get at the starter solenoid to jump it out and see if the motor starts? I've never done it on my GT-40 so not sure if there's room, if you try PLEASE be careful of belts and moving parts not grabbing your body parts or clothing.
