Bilge pump questions

I have a '97 Super Sport. Should have 2 bilge pumps, but only has one in front of the rudder. Manual says it should engage every 5 minutes, checking if there's water to be pumped out. Mine pumps every 2 seconds, so I can't leave it on all the time or it'll discharge the battery. I'm keeping my boat moored, so it'd be very convenient to keep it on all the time! Is there a way to adjust the timing, of when it engages? Or do I have to change out the pump?

Also, the 2nd pump should be under the shaft I think. The one that I have is this type Rule pump. I wonder though if that same one would fit under the shaft? Or is there a smaller one?

Agreed. Just replace it. Bilge pumps are cheap and easy to replace. Not worth the risk to have it kill a battery while you're out.

I keep my boat in the water and swapped the bilge pump out with a non auto and a float switch. No more battery drain and it was an easy job. The other bilge pump I removed completely but may replace at some point with the same set up. Rule offer the same shape pump in a non auto pump so I was able to use the same mounting holes.

I have a super sport and I do have 2 pumps...i found the 2nd one by accident while removing the ski pylon

I have a '95 super sport, so it should be the same setup. There's a water witch under the oil pan, in front of the rear bilge pump. I wonder if replacing the water witch would solve your problem? My pumps kick on for 1 minute when I turn the auto bilge on, then they just come on when the water witch senses water. You might try cleaning the water witch off too? It's suppose to sense "dirty water", so some sludge could cause it to kick on.

The 2nd pump is next to the ski pylon, there's a little entrance from the ski locker.

Let me know if you want any pictures of my setup - happy to take some when I get home tonight.

Here are some pictures of my 1995 Super Sport bilge setup. Two pumps and a water witch connected in the pictures below. There are two options to turn the bilge on: auto (go through the water witch) or manual, so each pump has two sets of wires for the two options (I think, right?). The aft pump is located under the belt pulleys, next to the water witch. The water witch is mounted to the floor, under the oil pan. The second pump is located in the gas tank compartment, right next to the ski pylon assembly. I removed my pylon, so it's pretty easy to access now. My second pump used to be mounted to the floor, but now it moves around a bit - I need to figure out how to re-mount it to the floor so it doesn't move around when there's water in the compartment.
