Went out yesterday and after about 15min of run time the belts started squealing on my gt40. I turned it off and tightened one that was a little loose and cranked back up only to discover that the raw water pump was not turning at all. Tried to limp back to shore but was afraid the belt was going to catch fire from slipping. I have not torn into it yet; has anyone experienced this before? The impeller is one year old and it had been running at a steady 160 degrees this season.

Odd for a water pump to completely lock up with out any warning, either bearing squeel, uneven belt wear or leaking water should have been a sign the pump was having problems. Do you have a strainer on the intake? My guess is something is jammed, maybe you sucked something up through the pickup.
