    Which engine box struts for ski nautique plus unrelated overheat problem

    I have a 95 SN (its not the clamshell box) and I need to replace the struts that hold up the engine cover. On mine I could make out SL36 (36 inch?) and 122-94. I cant find the parts online with that limited info. Is there a part number or other identifier? Trying to buy on Rockauto or other online source.
    I am also fighting an overheating issue. Runs 165 at speed but when dropping down to idle temp needle heads to 200. I have replaced the impeller, the 160 thermostat and the 3,one inch hoses on the front of the motor that terminate at thermostat housing (impeller to tstat, tstat to each exhaust). My plan is to replace all intake hose from fresh water intake thru strainer, trans cooler and up to the impeller. How many feet of hose do I need and any other ideas. Motor is 351 Pro Boss from a 93 Nautique. Thanks

      N3 or nautique parts have those struts pretty cheap. Before replacing hose go thru and tighten all clamps with a nut driver and check your strainer gasket and strainer for a good seal

          Thanks Quinner, had no idea there was an N3 online. I have already tightened up both clamps on trans cooler, i have a hose hook-up to run on driveway, they are tight and then the strainer. It has plastic connection that lets it rotate and then the intake, its tight. I am assuming something is leaking/sucking air on the supply side because it holds perfect temp at speed. My hoses are original from 93 so I guess replacing every 23 years is just good maintenance. I can order a strainer seal too. Im 200 miles from the boat so I want to bring all supplies with me next trip.

              Would be surprised if your hoses are bad but if you want to replace them have at it . When you unscrew the strainer there should be a rubber gasket, if that is missing or bad that is likely your problem. I would start on the suction side with tightening all your hose clamps. Nautique parts has a site as well and use code PND for 10% off.

                  What you're calling a "strut" is actually a gas spring. You can find lots of places online to buy these. Here's what's important:

                  - The length
                  - The strength
                  - The fittings on the ends

                  You may have to transfer your existing fittings over. Anyway, do a search for Gas Springs and you'll find what you need.
