Flaky keypad - 2006 limited 196

Hi Guys,

So my keypad is starting to act weird, the boat only has like 300 hours, but twice today when I went to stop the engine (running just fine) the stop button was dead? I re-enter the start code and can bring it back to life and stop the engine - Do I need a new keypad? Same thing with starting on occasion, its sporadic...

I did replace the steering helm over the winter, I wonder if I pinched part of the wiring harness while pulling the dash on and off.

Finally, battery seems okay, and shows like 14 volts when I rev it up in neutral at the dock?

I am on vacation at the lake in my prime two weeks to ski, so I want to make sure I avoid any downtime.

It is probably the keypad itself. They are about $350 from NautiqueParts.com.

Thanks Jeff - I ordered it yesterday and it supposed to be here at the lake today - gotta love the modern age of buying online.

Question - will I have to program a new start code with the new keypad, or can I leave it with no code required to stop and start?

You can leave it without a code if you desire.

Thanks Jeff - that fixed it. The female wiring receiver on the back of the unit was loose and the seal had been broken. One other interesting note, with the bad keypad in there, twice I heard a grinding noise after pulling away from the dock, I thought it was a transmission issue switching from reverse to forward despite that putting it neutral while it was happening didn't cause it to stop. But now I realized the noise was the flaky keypad trying to start the boat when it was already running! Same exact sound as when you turn the key on a car thats already started - glad thats fixed. I might just have to order a back up keypad for my spare parts collection.
