I have low compression in 6/8 cylinders and am planning on replacing with a long block with GT40 heads from advantage marine engines this winter. If anyone has done this before I'd appreciate any advice. I'm mechanical, but have never replaced and engine (or pulled one out of a boat) before. Any tips on getting it out, getting things swapped over, parts that should be powder coated, putting it back in, aligning the engine, etc... would all be appreciated. I'll take photos along the way for anyone doing this in the future.
