Hi TechBeer, I have 2003 Nautique 210. My oil pressure gauge stopped working, the light and everything. All other gauges work. I was told you could help? Thank you.

Tech Bear--I am also in the no rpm guage or oil pressure guage category. 2004 ski. I unhooked the pitot tubes last year. Please advise as how to procede. Thanks Bill

shoeskier I'll send you an email also but wanted to comment for the entire community. SilentSeven is 100% correct. I assume your gateway has pitot tube input(s) which you should seriously consider plugging up to avoid water ingress. But of course that will disable your speedometer. The LCD will still function but the needle will not move. I have developed a fix for that which is posted here https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...re-speedometer
As far as fixing the gauges, yes I can do that. We can take that off-line.

On a 2003, the factory speedo input is from the stern pitot pickups.
The factory speedo does not connect to the paddlewheel. The paddlewheel should be connected to the paddlewheel input on your Perfect Pass master module. Prior to the stargazer update done to your boat, the PW would have been the primary PP speed input. However, IIR...with a stargazer setup, the PW input is not required but will supplement the PP output by providing water temperature. Does your PP display water temperature? You may find the PW cable near the PP box...it will be a dark grey cable with a very thin flat plug end. Take a look for it....
If both the speedo and tach gauges are dead but all other functions work (like the LED functions), it's possible the gauge internals have failed. Techbeer can help you with these.
It's possible there is more to your speedo issues like someone disconnecting the pitot feeds to the Faria box but that's like an advanced topic after you provide some more information.

Hi TechBeer
I have a 2003 Ski Nautique 196 and I believe I have narrowed down my problem to failed gauges. I have the StarGazer master Module and the StarGazer gauge seems to be working properly, including RPM. The tach needle just went limp and the speedo quit working last summer. The boat has a paddlewheel, but I don't believe that cable is connected to the master module, or to the speedometer. There is a wire that comes out of the Paddle Wheel assembly, but I cannot locate it anywhere in the dash area. The GPS Cable is connected to master module, so I believe that the analog speedo is also fed from the GPS and not the paddlewheel.
I hope this makes sense. From reading this forum, it appears that you are able to repair these gauges.
Can you contact me directly to coordinate? I just signed up, and cannot send a direct message.

TechBeer or anyone else interested, I've got a tach and fuel gauge from an 03-05, I believe they both worked when they were removed and replaced with a bypass kit. Happy to pass them on to anyone who wants to pay the shipping.

TechBeer Hoping you can help me with my gauges. My tach needle will not work but the screen is still functioning, although it says 0 hours ( like it’s not getting the data from the faria box?) the temp gauge is also not working. Rest of the gauges work fine, pulled the faria box and was perfect inside. 2004 air nautique 216 team edition

TechBeer Hey, I've been reading up on some of the posts to fix the gauge issues, just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to dig into all of this and share your findings! I've got a problem with 2 of my gauges, wanted to see about getting your repair services. Can you PM me when you get a chance? I'm still "new" to the group, can't PM you just yet (lost/forgot my original login from some time ago...:-( )

I've read all your posts on this and really appreciate everything you've written up. It was super helpful. I've got a 2006 SV-211 with dead gauges. It was a slow dying process with fuel and voltage followed by oil and temp then speedo and tach at the end. For a while, the digital readout worked on the speedo and tach but now they are all dead. I'm getting various data bursts from the gateway box output on my o-scope so I assume the gateway is good. Would you concur with this assessment? I can rebuild the gauges but wanted to see if you thought it was just stepper motors or should I go ahead and do the capacitors. How likely is it that every gauge is bad? I've tried three of them in the first position and none have worked.

+1 for TechBeer's fix. He repaired multiple dead gauges in my friend's 2005 Nautique. And I'm in the final stages of installing his 'pitot to paddlewheel' speedo conversion kit. He knows his stuff.

brit_hunsicker - you don't really explain your reasons for doing the bypass but I assume you have 1 or more gauges that have gone bad. The 2006 SV-211 does not have the pitot tubes so water ingress into the gateway will NOT be an issue. In fact I would bet your gateway is just fine. I have fixed over 100 gauges for folks on this blog and would be happy to help you if you PM me. Fixing all 6 of them (if that's what you want) will be way cheaper than any of the bypass strategies. AND you retain the original look of the gauges. There was actually a design flaw in the original Faria gauge design that make them go bad after ~10-15 years. I address that design flaw. BTW I also happen to have a 2006 SV-211.
But if you are dead set on a bypass kit go for it.

Let me preface this with I copied and pasted from what I posted on the Nautique Boat Owners group, so my apologies that it’s explained a little more than this group needs. Does anyone in here have experience with both kits an have a preference? I have my own pros and cons for each kit looking int them, but never dealt with one hands on. This is for a 2006 SV-211.
Looking for input from people who have done either of the available gateway conversion kits for mid 2000s Nautique’s. Bonus points if you’ve had experience with both kits as your insight would be very valuable. I want to know which product seems to function the best and integrated the most seamlessly. The price difference in kits isn’t enough to sway me one way or another.
SP-14-1246 - This is the kit NautiqueParts.com offers. It has been around for quite a few years, but had several different changes throughout the years. I know the most recent update was 2022 or 2023 but haven’t read much feedback on it since that update. It appears all gauges match now, they didn’t for a while, let me know if you know otherwise. I like this kit because it appears to keep all factory functions in the allotted factory dash holes. No problem leaving stargazer PP in place and powering it. It does seem to be a bit more complicated to install, but if it gives me a better finished product, that is fine.
TRD-2001-CC - This is the kit that Ron Tanis developed and sells on skiboatpartsonline.com. A few years ago he switched from Faria gauges to his own gauges and they have connectors to plug and play with factory wiring. This kit easier to install from what I’ve read. The kits appears very nice and is offered in black or white. I’m confident in quality coming out of Ron’s shop with his name on it. However, the downfall to this kit is you lose the depth/temp gauge, in the factory holes anyways. He says an additional gauge can be ordered and pigtail added on his harness to regain those functions, but the gauge they sent me a link to was a generic Sierra gauge that was ugly and only appears to do depth alone. I’m waiting for a response on if they offer a different gauge that does both or if they can adapt the Faria gauge offering that Nautique uses in their kit to do depth and temp. I’m not willing to lose depth or have a janky looking add on gauge, so hoping there is a good option for this.
Ultimately, I like both kits for their own reasons, so I need some real world feedback. I wanted to go with TRD because I’ve had great luck with Ron and his expertise is invaluable when it comes to all things boats. Maybe I just need to call him on Monday to get for sure answers to my questions.
