    Magic Eraser

Has anyone tried using a magic eraser to clean vinyl upholstery or gel coat?

I was looking for a cheap alternative to hot sauce or babes when my mom suggested a magic eraser. She said that's what she uses on their pontoon.

I tired it and it works awesome!! It not only removed some nasty shoe tread marks off my seats but it also used it to clean up some weird stains on the gel.

The sponge itself is a mild abrasive I hope I didn't scratch the gel too much. Let me know what you guys think.

The Magic Eraser does work... but like you said it is a mild abrasive. Look up "LA's Totally Awesome". This with a soft bristle brush will make Vinyl super clean. Then don't forget to apply a conditioner after. (Haven't tried a Magic Eraser on gel coat, use a compound/polish/wax for the gel)

Do not use the Magic Eraser on vinyl as it too abrasive and will damage the material. Works great on fiberglass/ gel and other surfaces.

For hull cleaning, a bunch of posts over the years have suggested a home-made solution based on toilet cleaners. As for the vinyl, some folks here have recommended to use vinegar-water mixtures.
