2006 196 Water Temp Reading

The water temp reading on display is reading 140+ F when in reality should be 60-65 F. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer to help resolve.
1. Were is the sensor located that measure this temp.
2. Is it possible that its not in the correct locating and is reading engine water temp?
3. Has anyone ran across this before.

Does the temperature start out at lake temperature and climb? It may be engine temp, have you scrolled through all the available parameters?

I know I can read both the lake water temp and engine temp in the digital display on the tach/speedo. I cant remember which displays which.
