99 Steering Cable

Anybody heard of steering cable problems on 99's? Mine has 350 hrs and seems to be fairly stiff compared to a buddys 04.

The boat is in the water for 4-6 weeks at a time if that makes any difference. Thanks

Replaced my 99's after two years. Still worked just got stiff. Fairly easy to do.

my buddy has a 1999 pro air and he had to get a new steering cable-- very hard to turn

When you winterise your boat try unhooking the steering cable at the helm end, gaffa tape a funnel on the end of the the cable, wire it up high, tip in some penetrene or other thin oil and let it gravity feed down over winter, if you can over the winter period try moving the rudder back and forward to help the oil move down. If it doesnt work youve lost nothing.

On the rudder end of my cable I have it wrapped in Denzo tape (sometimes called greasy tape) it seals the cable from any moisture getting in,this cable has been in the boat for five years and 750 eng hours of use all in salt water.The steering is as light as when it was new.

My boat is a 99 SNOB. Anybody know what length cable it takes?

That would be a 19.5 foot Teleflex cable.
