My '83 SN 2001 runs great in the morning but develops a slight heistation on take-off after it has run for a while. It's got a Holly carb. Any thoughts?

RE: Hesitation
Take the carb apart and clean the metering blocks well with carb cleaner, make sure the power valve is in good condition, they can rupture if it has backfired.

RE: Hesitation
Any word yet on fixing your hesitation problem. My 86 is doing the same thing. A few guys told me to look at the coil.

I just got done fixing that very problem. It's hesitate as I'd go to yank a skier up. The metering block could be dirty. The only problem with cleaning them is there is so many small passageways through it, sometimes no amount of soaking will clean it. A new metering block for your holly is about $45. Or your accelerator pump could be going bad. Easy fix.
Pull the coil wire off and check for a good hot spark though too, before you go to just buying new stuff. hehe.2018 SAN 230
