Take the axle to frame shop and have them straighten it? You should be able to slip it off even with the boat on it (on stands of course).
Did you damage the rubber torsion bars themselves, or just bent the axle?

bent the torsion arm and spread the end of the axle. No straightening this one.

I'm going to drag it. 150 mile one way, trailer shop says the axle will hold it. Tire wear is the worst that will happen. I have 2 spares and will buy a set of tire once fixed ( tires are getting up there in age anyway).

If you have any doubt about the strength of the axle where it is bent, you can have a welder place some additional support across the area of weakness. You'll still chew up tires if you have an alignment problem, but at least you wouldn't face the disaster of a complete axle failure.

I did something similar on a travel trailer with a bent frame...we had had one final major trip of the summer after I realized we'd bent the frame. I had a welder spend a couple of hours reinforcing where it was failing and we used it that one last time before submitting an insurance claim. I think I paid a couple of hundred dollars--cheap insurance that also let me enjoy my vacation.

Came in yesterday and guess what, ordered 2" to long. Back to the waiting game. But it is towable and since they will have to eat the axle they will let me use it till the new one comes in, about a month from now.

they told me they could "work" on the price if I could live with the tires hanging out. I told them no discount would cover the money spent at the car wash. He said he knew it wouldn't stand and already ordered the new one.
