Do I really need to tap (10mm) the old hole in the block to install the retro fit kit for a 1991 excel/BF with pro tec? Part # RF 020020. Skidim site says yes. I have the part and it def will not thread into the hole. (close but won't)

Sounds like that's the only way is going to work. Its probably much easier than you're thinking it will be, I just had to go up one size on the bolts for my raw water pump. Proper drill bit size should be on the tap or or the package, all it did was take the old threads out. Put the tap in the cordless drill and snugged it in then finished it up with a wrench. Cast iron crumbles as you cut it much easier to work with than other metals I've tapped. -
THanks! Yep, I went ahead and tapped it. Didn't even need to drill it, just carefully started the tap and was able to get a taken care of pretty easy.Comment
