cartpet side on trailer

anyone have any good ideas to get rid of the cartpet on the step sides of the trailer? i know i saw some diamond plate. it just never dries out and its always wet since i use my boat 4 times a week... makes the garage smell too....

If ya like the carpet and just hate the sponge it's mounted to then I would buy some plastic like they sell for boat hatches and what not and make the (boards) out of that. Otherwise diamond tread aluminum is the best way to go. The only issue is you will have to bolt it to the trailer somehow.
