    Installing aftermarket speakers

Alright sports fans, here is what I just ran into today. I'm starting my winter project/ audio overhaul on my 2002 SAN. I have cut out the mesh to see what I was working with. I know that the speakers are coned on the back side and screwd in. Do I need to take off the vinly to get to all of that and remvoe it or is there an easier way? PLEASE HELP!

If it is like my 99 and judging by the 2nd pic I think it is, you need to take off the side panel but the upholstery itself does not need to come off the panel. Take the nut off of those bolts you see in the second picture. There should be 1 or two more bolts near the opposite side of the panel and possibly one in the middle. Once all of the nuts are removed the panel should slide out and you will have easy access to everything on the backside of the panel. Just be careful in case they didn't leave you much slack on the speaker wires. It might be easier to access the bolts if you remove the backseat rest. It should just lift straight up on your boat I think.

Those look different than the speakers on my '99. It appears that CC built that can/enclosure to mount the speakers. There have been more than a few on here mod the coming pads to fit new speakers in there.

I was going to just unbolt the pad and rip out the speakers and coming pads because my polk speakers fit right in there straight in from the top.

Unbolting the panel, removing the cones and then mounting the new peek from the top sounds like the right plan to me.
