I went to change my trans fluid and noticed there is water in there. Two things that come to mind is the cooler has an internal leak and its letting water in from the raw water hose or the water got high enough in the bilge that it somehow got in there. Anyway, its in there now so it is what it is.
I have been trying to suck it out from the fill tube only getting just a dab out.... mostly air. I took the hoses loose and blew in them but I cant get anymore out.
What I have in mind is trying to do a flush on it by feeding it with fresh fluid in one hose and pumping the old out into a container with the engine running. If I do this I want to make sure I know which hose is the output and which is the return. Does anyone know?
Also, when I called a marine today the guy told me changingthe fluid was not gonna help if it had water in it and that the clutches have probably already glazed over or something like that. I took the boat out only once this year and the tranny worked smooth as ever. Im not gonna take it out again though until I have all fresh fluid in it.
