    2001 GT-40 eating alt belt?

I've gone thru 4 belts now, is this common? Have checked for burrs, etc on pulleys and they seem fine, possible aligment?, are there beefier belts on the market?

Make sure your tensioner (in your case, the alternator) is REALLY snug. There should be only about 1/4" of play in the middle of the belt. Also, before you do that, make sure your alternator is correctly aligned so the belt and pulley are in the same plane. Finally, just make sure the alternator spins freely and that you don't have a bearing going out.

Check for rust in the groove of the pulleys. Make sure the belts go on in the proper order.

It sounds like your alignment is off.
