ignition help 99 Sport

Posting for a friend. Have a 99 Sport Nautique that keeps popping the ignition breaker. He was out last week pulling a skier and his boat went into limp mode. He trolled to a anchor bouy and let it cool down. Then started the boat up and it ran fine. He said the boat was surging and he saw the temp guage go up when the initial problems happened. After he sat at the anchor bouy for a while he started the boat up and it ran fine for the rest of the day. Later on that day the he was tied up at the anchor again letting the kids swim and the radio quit working. Now this week when he was getting the boat ready he pushed in the ignition button to run blower etc. and the ignition breaker keeps popping. We changed the push button ignition breaker in the console but that hasn't fixed it. Could it be a faulty starter or bad relay somewhere else? When we push the ignition button to power the boat it lights up for about 2 secs and pops the breaker. All the engine breakers are pushed in and no problems there. Please help.

anyone have ideas? How do we check the starter relay to see if it is what is causing the ignition breaker tripping?

I'd guess he's got a ground short somewhere. Wish I could help more.

I Laton, We had the same problem on a 2000 SAN. We are still locking for it. Do you fix it ? If yes, what was the problem.
