My digital gauges aren't working...2001 Air Nuatique

    Hi,

Click on my pic and tell if you have any ideas what is going on with my gauges. The pic isn't great, but you can probably see that some of the numbers aren't showing up completely. They worked fine last week. The only thing that has changed, is that I installed a new battery this week. Voltage and connections seem good.

Are my gauges going bad? Or is there something that I can fix.

    Thanks in advance.

it told me invalid link, but i'd imagine you have the digital teleflex guages and if so i'd say it's time to throw it in the trash and get an analog gauge.

I'm suspect you haven't done anything wrong, but the displays may have just finally bit the dust. Of course, they may start showing up fine next time out and you'll continue on with no problem.

You may already be aware, the digital gauges are somewhat notorious and there are a ton of threads here where people have replaced them with analog versions. I have the digital guages, too, and mine are still hanging on. Although, I periodically get missing lcd segments here and there.

The teleflex analogs are nice as well - easy to switch out.

                      I haven't replaced it yet.

I have the factory Perfect Pass digital pro and the stock tach and speedo...

The Speedo uses two factory pitot tubes on the transom. I'm still having problems with the tach/speedo looking mostly scrambled. I've looked on forums and talked to friends who have all say that mine are junk and need to be replaced with analog gauges.

My perfect pass is also not working. I'm assuming that my perfect pass wont work if the gauges aren't reading well. To be specific. My gauges seem to functioning, but the digital display seems to be intermittently missing numbers on the gauge.

The boat is new to me so pardon the rookie questions...

                      - Does the perfect pass independently work if the gauges are having display problems?

                      - If I replace the gauges with the "Faria conversion for perfect pass", do I have to install a paddle wheel and get rid of my pitot tubes?

The only online tutorials I've seen are not the same perfect pass/pitot combo I have.

                      Thanks for any help.

                      Jeff

I suggest looking at this....DIY 2000 teleflex to Faria Conversion Thread:
                        http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...ria-Conversion

                        instructions for faria kit:
                        http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/at...5&d=1269651799

with PP it says says to skip step 6 and 7 and go to step 8. so it appears you do not need to install a new paddlewheel.

I did not remove my pitot tubes and left them abandoned in place.

I installed the new tach, took all of 15 minutes from start to finish. Very very basic. Since I have the speed on my perfect pass Stargazer, I left out the speedo and replaced it with a large clarion remote which is a lot easier to control than the stereo head unit. Looks pretty nice and works great.

                            Sorry, I'm an IDIOT

Here I am thinking that I have a perfect pass that uses a pitot tube for the speed sensor... It just occurred to me to check underneath my boat. I HAVE A PADDLE WHEEL!. Now I just need to fix my gauges.
