2002 SANTE Replacing Steering Cable and/or rudder packing

I just recently purchased a black on black SANTE and the steering when i test drove it was extremely stiff, almost need 2 hands to turn when going about 23mph. I was planning on replacing the steering cable but not too sure where to start. If anyone could give some detailed instructions and about re-packing the rudder housing with grease? I'm planning on replacing the cable with a OEM cable so I dont loose any steering movement.

I appreciate any advice or pics. Thanks!

disconnect the cable at the rudder and you can tell which has a problem. If the rudder will then turn free by hand the cable has a problem. If the steering wheel is free and the rudder is stiff you have a rudder problem.

If the rudder is the problem it is usually the result of a rudder impact damaging the rudder shaft and or rudder sleeve. When I purchase a Nautique I always opertate the steering in reverse. Grap the rudder and be sure you can turn it thus rotating the steering wheel with the rudder.
