Many flat tappet motors have used traditional 10w 40 motor oil. Contrary to what some may say here, it will work just fine, roller cam, flat tappet or otherwise. Just like some will say to only use autolite plugs in a ford based motor. It's not true, and should not be preached like gospel.

So AL should not be run in a Ford? I've run them in my last two boats without issue and now I hear this.

You can put a multi-vis in. It isn't recommended by the engine manf. The only time it isn't a 40w is during engine startup and cooldown. The only thing that happens is that oil may be allowed to push past rings and cause some blowby. Might cause a little smoke. On the same note, it is probably easier on the engine during startup using a muti-vis.

Out of curiosity, how much does outside air temp matter when the engine is warmed up?

Do not use orange oil filters.

Or any other color that is made in China. Avoid heche en Mexico if you can.
