    Stiff Steering 98Air

The steering on my 98 Air is somewhat stiff particularly turning to the right. I had the steering cable replaced about 3 years ago. Recently I tried to grease the rudder port and the cable but I can't get to it with the ballast tanks in the way. It looks like you have to take the gas tank out to remove the ballast tanks. Is that right? Anybody have any suggestions?

    Thanks

If your steering cable is getting wet (water in the hull going over the cable when you are on plane) it will only last a few years before getting stiff. My guess would be this is the case. It does not take that much water in the bilge to submerge the cable end when you are accelerating.

I have never had any luck greasing steering cables that you could not remove from the housings.
