Broken Windshield on 02 SAN

Fortunately it occured on the way home from the 2 week ski trip to Ouchita but none the less I have a shattered port side windshield. Any one have helpful hints to replacement? I contacted Buxtons but is there any where that sells the same shield in the Dallas area? I think it is gonna run around 400 bucks if I do it myself but has anyone purchased from somewhere else?

The Buxtons are great but I wondered if that price is typical for half a windshield. Just trying to get out a little cheaper. I tried a search for this topic but no luck.

The only thing I can say is call around to several dealers and do some price comparison. I can't recall who makes the glass (is it Taylor Made?), but maybe you can call them directly??

Wow that sux. I am headed up to Ouachita next thursday with my boat in tow. How did it happen, a rock from your vehicle or one from someone in front of you? Is there any areas to look out for?

I had to replace half of the windshield on my 236 last year. It was MUCH more expensive than $400, so consider yourself lucky!

bchesly, we were between Tompkins Bend Rec area and Mt. Ida. They are doing some bridge work on 270 between Tompkins bend and Ouchta Shores ( Denby). It looked like it was kicked up from a passing vehicle but I didnt notice it until we stopped for gas in Mt. Ida.

If it was much more I could file on the insurance but it looks like I'll have to suck it up and pay cash. Thanks for the help. It is taylor made and I've emailed them for a quote. Hard to beat Ouchita water so I guess it was all worth it.

there may be a reason that this wont work, but can you not go to a glass shop and have a piece cut and installed there? If the glass is just cracked and the frame is intact that sounds to m elike it might be a possibility.

It actually shattered into a million pieces which takes a lot of vaccuming to clean up. It is the port side curved glass so I dont know that a local glass shop could do it. I might be wrong but from what I've seen on searches, most have come from the manufacturer.

When mine broke, it shattered into a million pieces too. Lots of vacuum work ahead.... That's one time I was especially happy to have the snap-out carpet.

It might be a good opportunity to have your frame powder coated since you have a 2002. It looks much better than the paint from the factory.

I have been wanting to do that, the current paint is chipping. It almost looks like it is melting in the heat. Anyone know what they call the cup things under the teak platform to prevent CO from coming up? I lost one several months ago and havent replaced it yet. My boat is starting to sound ghetto isnt it?

The paint on my frame was chipping so I took it apart and had it powder coated 2 winters ago. It looks 100 times better and still looks new. It was tight getting everything back together. Just get some soapy water and some elbow grease. I actually ended up using my floor jack to compress everything back together! It was worth it in the end. I also tinted the glass and got a tower mounted mirror while I was at it.
Oh, and they're not "old" 210's. They prefer to be called the "original", "vintage" or "classic" 210. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

I removed my windshield, to have it powdercoated last week. It took about 10 mins. to remove it from the boat and about 45 mins to take apart the windshield. The cost to powdercoat the windshield black with a UV clear is about $80.00 to $150.00 dollars. Stripping the old paint or powdercoat is probally a little more expensive.
