2000 Air Nautique charging problem

My 2000 Air Nautique wouldn't start last weekend due to a dead battery. I charged the battery for about an hour and the boat started fine. After running for a short time I looked at the volt meter and it was around 11volts. It was headed down fast as I returned to the dock, I am sure it was running on straight battery. What should I check besides the alternator?

mine does that (12) when I'm activating the ballast pumps... sometimes I freak out and I just remember that I forgot to turn the pump off.

I got the boat charging today. Believe it or not this was a worn slipping belt and that was it. Easy fix, I was quite relieved.
