I have a 2005 Super Air and have had the ballast control handles break off several times. They are made of plastic and snap off without twisting hard. I had the cables changed per the recall and it didn't seem to make much difference as 2 have broken off since the change. I did a search on this and couldn't find anyone with a similar problem. Anyone else have this problem? Are there other options available to fix it without just replacing the same plastic knobs?

RE: broken ballast control knob
Are they breaking, or is the cable just coming disconnected? I have heard of some where the cables come disconnected, but it can be reconnected fairly easily. I have not heard of very many actually breaking. Is your cable routed in some strange way that would cause it to bind?I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. RE: broken ballast control knob
The plastic part is actually breaking. The cable is still in place but just the outer knob is snapping off when I turn it and I'm not even turning it very hard. There was a recall to have the cables replaced which I did but that didn't seem to make much difference as 2 of the knobs have broken since then. (2005 Super Air Nautique 210)

RE: broken ballast control knob
I replaced my aerator fill pumps with Impeller pumps and got rid of those darn valves. One of my best decisions ever on the boat. I have a couple spare parts if needed. If you have the inclination and skills I suggest you replace the pumps as I did.

The starboard side knob broke on our 211 a few weeks ago. It was a bit tight and I probably turned it too hard. It just snapped off. The replacement has been on order for three weeks now. I wish Mikeski lived around here and I would hire him to upgrade our boat!!

I had a knob break on my 03 and I replaced with one of the valves listed in the post I'm linking to.

I made the mistake of buying my replacement valve from the dealer before I knew about Flow-Rite's website and got charged twice as much for the same thing.
