Ballast system upgrade for2001 SAN with 501 engine

Starting third season with boat and thinking of the following ballast upgrades. This year want to automate a Flyhigh vdrive sack in the driver side compartment for surfing. So sick of having to manually fill and empty that bag. Next year might automate bag in ski locker but as we ONLY use the boat for boarding and surfing might just keep it static. Does anybody have any thoughts or ideas? Recommendations on setup, pumps and valves would be greatly appreciated.

The below thread is the system I installed last year.

I would definitely think you want to put a sac in both sides, so anyone can surf. I just leave my locker bag fulll all year, that is not part of my system.
ballast puppies are a must, no valves required, I like the transom thru hulls, and have a separate one for each pump so I can drain starboard, while filling port at the same time.

There are a bunch of ways of doing it, WAKEFUN has an awesome set up too, do a search, there are tons of pics and descriptions on here.

      Thanks

Thanks for the guidance. Re your suggestion to put bags on both sides currently the boat has hard tanks on both sides and also a subwoofer above the ballast tank on the passenger side. Everybody gets to surf on passenger side. Unless I am missing something still thinking to only add the one bag. Must admit that I hate the idea of having to drill a hole in the hull. Oh well.

        RE: Thanks

I cut my hard tanks out. My stock system was worthless. I put 750's in the back. I like having the full space available in the trunks.

          RE: Thanks

i was going to take my hard tanks out on my 05 but since it's got gauges i left them in and put side sacs on top hooked to my oem ballast. they fill and drain perfectly. there's a threat on here already with full instructions for anyone who wants em. i think it's under 2003 ballast upgrade. and thru hull fittings arent bad at all. i mean ****, they put one in the hull just so the glove box can drain, and i've never met anyone who had water in theirs in the first place if you're skeptical take it to the dealer. it shouldnt be a big deal at all for them, but don't ask for help with making extra ballast. i'd just tell them you want a new hole and where

if you didnt have seperate thru hulls would you still be a able to fill one as you drain the other? seems like the draining pump would feed the filling pump on the manifold? just a question before i begin my ballast.

I am not sure of the physics on that, but thinking it would not work too well, if at all.
