    GT-40 Engine Starting problem

I own a 96' Sport. The engine will not start. When I unplug the vacuum hose from the Map sensor, it will start. I am thinking the sensor is bad. Any ideas or suggestions?

    RE: GT-40 Engine Starting problem

Download the GT-40 service manual from this site. It has a very good diagnostic section.
The manual is free, except for your time to download it. Parts are expensive, and you could spend lots of money and time buying a part, changing it, taking the boat out, making another guess, changing another part, ETC.
The computer on your engine is adaptive, that is, if it gets an obviously bad input from a sensor, it makes an educated guess on what the values should be coming from a bad, or disconnected sensor, and use those estimates values to make the engine run.
Check the fuel pressure of the engine first. A boat engine does not have feedback to the computer on fuel air ratios, like a car engine.
