mildew stains on my seats after storage

Hi everyone

I mistakenly stored my front seat cushions in plastic bags over the winter and got some bad stains on them from mildew.
I have tried Spray 9 and Midew Remover from baoters choice to no avail.
removed the worst but the stains are still visible.
help!

get some mr clean magic erasers and some simple green spray. use the simple green first and if it's not good enough go for the erasers.

If that don't work.....Get some rubber gloves,,And So Go-jo hand cleaner and rub it in the Spots.
Its was worked for me .Then wipe it off.........

Can't think of any reason it wouldn't be, but is Go-jo safe for vinyl? Should be if it's safe for skin. I'm a little paranoid about that now, cleaned some seats once and apparently it screwed up the 'plasticizers' and they got hard.

Probably not. Magic erasers and simple green wont be either. The only thing on CC's list of acceptable vinyl cleaners is ePHx, which is made by G&T, the makers of the vinyl. Use pretty much anything else and you stand the risk of damaging the outer plasticizer/clearcoat.

I bought some ePHx this winter and havent used it yet- so I have no idea how well it works. If I were you, Id try that first, and then go with something harsher if its not aggressive enough.

Whatever you do, follow up with some 303 to keep the vinyl protected.

If Fantastik and 409 are not safe for the vinyl, theres no way that Simple Green and Magic Erasers are. Ive used both- sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to remove stains- but I did so knowing that I was probably damaging the outer protective layer of the vinyl. Im sure it will live a shorter life because of that, so Im sure to use 303 liberally to keep it protected.

simple green is not safe - only used as a last resort and must be diluted 10 parts water to one part simple green - even then there is some risk of damage

im not talking about the concentrated simple green. go to the f'n grocery store, pick up a bottle that says SAFE FOR FIBERGLASS, VINYL, and lots of others. i would not tell you something that would damage your boat. you know i just have hung around nautique team riders and other people that know what the heck they are talking about for a long time.

Most cleaners that say they are safe for vinyl ARE NOT! Magic erasers are abrasive, they will also damage your vinyl. I would get the ePHx, if at all possible.
Another option I have used is a few drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle, then fill the spray bottle with water.
The sun will also bleach out a minor stain.
I would personally use the Dawn/water solution, with a very soft nylon brush. Then let the cushions sit out in the sun, before trying anything more drastic
You will get lots of opinions telling you that harsh cleaners, acetone, lacquer thinner, gasoline, 409, Fantastic, magic erasers are ok to use. They are not. They will shorten the life of your vinyl.
I understand Midwest Correct Craft is the source for vinyl replacement.

well anyone who uses acetone, lacquer, gas to clean their boat are dumb, but fantastic is actually on the list of approved cleaners. before you right smething check your facts. and using magic erasers here and there will do so little damage it will never be noticable. quit being anal

IF the Stains are real bad..My guess Nothing will Help..I have Used Go-Jo hand cleaner on lots of Boats.as the last resort,And It works on alot of spots..Don't over do it...If it don't get the stain off,,,I don't know what will...And as far as hurting the vinyl..I have'nt seen any thing thats shows it does..And I clean alot of boats.....with NO complaints///////////

do what you want but that seems pretty much straight forward as to what to do and the card includes a recipe of steps with regards to cleaning a variety of stains

for mildew - step one -use one tablespoon of ammonia,1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide and 3/4 cup water - use solution on area and dry
step two - vinyl finish vinyl cleaner - product comes from Marine specialties group
step three - medium/soft brush, warm soapy water, rinse/dry

I am new to the board and I must admit I love the look and feel of the Nautique boat. I should introduce my self a little before getting to involved in your forum. I currently am a TIGE owner with a PCM engine and have absolutely nothing bad to say about NAUTIQUE this boat was actually my first choice but the dealer I purchased my TIGE from was also a NAUTIQUE dealer and he gave me a steal on the TIGE'. I love the Power Plants PCM. I have found on Tigeowners.com that there is only a couple of other guys that have the PCM and we struggle to help each other through what small issue we have. So I hope you guys don't mind me learning about the NAUTIQUE a little more from you and once in a while providing assistance and getting assistance from you guys on the PCM.

Now to get back on topic.

My son owns a detailing business for boats and we have fond a cleaner for vinyl that has worked better than anything we have tried next to the magic eraser. It is called Hot Sauce. My son thought that a boat he was detailing had a very light grayish color vinyl in it. When he cleaned it the vinyl came out pure bright white. He called the owner thinking he messed up the interior. The owner said it was pure white when it was new and he would be surprised if it was white again. We use this on everything now.
