    Wave Suggestions

I had my 2020 G23 out for a couple of longer sessions this weekend. It was my wife, my two sons, and myself. I need some setup advice to dial the wave in. I was running at 11.2 mph, NSS 0, NCRS 5. I tried 4 on NCRS as well. 100% in all tanks. No lead. My pocket seems pretty short and small. I was not able to lengthen the wave much, and had to pretty much stay pumping most of the time to stay in. We packed the boat in a hurry, and didn't really do a very good job of weight distribution. Would you try to load the boat up to one side? If so, which side? Evenly distribute all the weight? Any other suggestions?

Others with more experience than me will chime in to help out. With that setting I believe you are set at the shortest and steepest wave possible. Shorter pocket but you should certainly not need to pump at all. I suggest taking NCRS down to 3 or so, maybe speeding boat up to 11.4 which will lengthen the wave.

Thanks, will try that. We have quite a lot of gear, some of it that is pretty heavy. Would you try to keep it more port or starboard?

I think folks suggest a couple hundred #'s more to Port to offset the prop spin rotation.

I have 250 lbs on Portside to counter prop rotation but 200lbs could work

OK. I may add lead then. Don't have that much gear! Seems most put 150-ish in bow, 250 to port side midship.

Just go on now and get 500 lbs of lead because you get a discount buying 10 bags at a time. You can add from there after you tinker around with bag placements . I have 750 lbs in my G23 and the wave is dialed in

Yup, the weight 500+ add to front, then mid, and port biased. Ncrs 1-3 if your looking for flatter.

There’s a thread somewhere here about dialed surf wave that even has some peoples diagrams.

Thanks for that. Those look like 25lb bags, not the 50, correct?

the 500 pounds I had shipped to the house caused me and my delivery guy to break up as well!

Here is an illustrated thread with some different G23 surf weight set ups, including Issac and Gab's from the video above: https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...23-surf-set-up

One thing to consider. What type of water are you riding on? Current can make a huge difference, even on reservoirs that seem still on top. On our lake (even though it is hundreds of feet deep) there are areas where one direction is nice and long and well formed, and the other direction is peaky and short. It took us a season or two to figure out that there were some fluid dynamics affecting wave shape, on what appeared to be a large/still lake.
