I have not surfed behind it yet because I do not own a board. The dealer showed me the surf wake when I was testing it and with only 3 people in the boat is was pretty good.

It handles chop very well for a 21 ft boat, even when packed if you know how to drive. Speaking of handling, I don't think there is another wake boat out there that handles this well. The new 210 is truly a pleasure to drive.

I think it puts out one of the best wakes, just with stock ballast. I have not added any weight to mine yet except for bodies. I am planning to purchase some pop bags soon to add to it. Malibu's stock 1250 lbs with the wedge is also another great stock wake.

Has anyone tried skiing behind the new 210

How does the wake compare to the 211?

            wakecrashin,

Make sure you look at the 220 as well. If you are used to the room in a Malibu, this may be more your size. You lose nothing on the wake, and gain quite a bit on space. Surf wake is awesome with factory ballast and 10 close friends. The ZR6 motor is a great upgrade also if you plan on weighting the boat down. Handling is extremely responsive.

Does that mean you do not know how to ski? ??????

I think what Erik is trying to say is that this boat is designed for wakeboarding.

Its like somebody asking "has anybody wakeboarded behind a 196, how big is the wake?"
The answer is going to be it sucks.

My question orginated from other threads where some people think the wake behind a 210 is not that bad for skiing. My other question was whether the width of the 211 had more to do with it being "Tournament certified" than 211 wake size. I would prefer a wider boat.

The biggest difference is that the 210 is much wider (98" beam) and therefore has no shot of driving a course. If you are buying a 211, I would submit that you are not going to use it in the course anyway. With that being said, I would tell you that I think the 210 is a better all around boat. The price difference is minute....$800-$1000 at the most.
Maybe the answer to my question is not " it sucks " as you assume

The 226 and 236 are Crossover boats and are bigger and wider boats. Do their wakes suck as well for skiing?

Gizmo - what kind of boat do you have? Do you ski?

I don't ski, but I have a friend with a 196 that tried skiing behind my 210 and he was all over the place. He said never again and that was over a year ago and he has kept to his word.

If you look at the hull of a 211 you will see that it has features borrowed from both the ski hull and the wake hulls.

If you plan on skiing, don't buy a 210.

Well, the wake with proper load is not bad. Nice for a beginner - intermediate.

I mean I don't wakeboard, I just slalom the course so I bought a 196. But to wakeboard is easier and you don't need to be in good shape to do it (beginner level). So my wife wakeboards and some friends (not very good friends  ) too.

I don't ski either but an older friend of mine does. I gave him a pull behind the 210 over the weekend and he was okay with it. For the occasional recreational slalom run I'm sure you'll be fine with the 210 If you want to run the course, you will definitely want to look elsewhere.

I have a 210 and I dont ski, I havent for about 15 years. I have a co-worker that tried behind my boat. He usually skis behind a direct drive and charges pretty hard, he hated my boat. However he does prefer my boat for wakeboarding.

Im not trying to flame you but if you're looking for a decent pull on a ski a wakeboard boat or a crossover is not gonna cut it. If you're just out for a pull every once in a while and want room for the family then, sure you can expect a consistant pull with a nice bump in the middle. Go try it out and see for yourself, you're opinion of you're boat is all that matters.

I have skied behind my 210 and it is a serious workout... Not the least bit ideal... Even at 34 with one spotter in the bow. Used to have a 196 and did wakeboard behind it, but I would recommend the 211 if you are truly going to mix it up. I went to the 210 only after a demo with my local dealer. My preferences favored the 210, but you may like something different.

My suggestion is to find your local dealer and ask for a demo. I am sure they will gladly satisfy your needs. Good luck.

Do you know if the wake on the 07' 220 and 210 are the same? For wakeboarding that is......

a customer of mine who wakeboards and ski has slalomed a few times behind my 07 210 not ideal but he still had a ball.

The 07 210 is a lot more rampier than the 220
