Im getting rid of my Malibu VLX and was wondering the pros and cons with your 07 Super Air Team Edition. I have heard they are very very well built boat with a somewhat rampy wake. Give me your $.02!!!
The 07' 210 is fantastic! The seating is well thought out and there is plenty of storage. The boat rides quiet and smooth. The controls are simple and sensible. In rough water (very rough water) the boat gets along fine as long as you keep the speed down. The perfect pass is flawless! The 10 speaker (plus subwoofer) stereo rocks the boat and the lake, and the MP3 player input in the glove box is very nice!
I got the swivel racks and I think I noticed some squeking as the board was rocked back and forth during a cruise. I'll investigate that... The swivel racks were nice for docking and for loading and unloading boards.
The tower fold down design leaves a little to be desired... My girlfriend and I had to come up with a creative solution to get it folded down without destroying something. She was standing on the back of the boat with the ski rope to keep it from falling forward and I was breaking my back trying to get the thing "over the hump". It all worked out, but I don't want to have to do that after a full day of riding every time I want to put it in storage... I found a somewhat decent pic of the wake...
I didn't really get the weight, speed, and rope length all dialed in, but here it is.
Here is the best that I have of the interior. I went with all white except for black piping. It looks great. I didn't want people to get burned by the hot black so I tried to keep it as white as possible.
I def like the black hull as well!!! It looks like a very sharp boat! I have white in my boat now and its sooo hard to keep clean so ill prob go with marble.
Boat has 60 hours on it and it has been in the shop for:
Power Wedge inop X2
High Idle X2
Leaked all fluid out of transmission X2
Lost all Throttle X1
Memorial Day weekend... got back boat from dealer Thurs before Memorial Day and launch first time on Saturday:
Battery completely dead, no even a uhhh
Jumped it and check engine light kept blinking and beeping
Only had forward idle (4mph) and reverse and huge Thunderstorm on the way (didnt even know it was going to rain)
Needless to say, it been in the shop more hours than on the water!
I did lose one of the pins on my swim platform over the holiday weekend. It was super rough where I was so I'm not too surprised, but dealer is ordering me a couple more. One of the other pins was on it's way out too. The clips that hold them in place are pretty weak.
The white is clearly going to be a challenge, but it looks so good I had to go with it.
Sell the Malibu and go with a new 210. You will not be disappointed. I had a 2004 210 before trading for the 2007 and I prefer the new one in every regard, even the wake. With stock ballast and 5 people in the boat you have all the wake that most riders will ever need.
I was a little skeptical of the new 210 at first but after a few rides in it I was hooked. I've only ridden with factory ballast and 5 bubbas and the wake real nice. The interior is great and very user friendly. Overall the boat is hands down the best on the market today. I will be trading in my current 210 for an 07 soon.
