What's Happening at Silver Cove Marine?

The windshield from our 1997 Ski Nautique was disassembled today and prepared for powder coat, along with the swim platform brackets and the front vent covers. These pieces will be looking great soon!

In answer to one of the gelcoat questions earlier. When I wetsanded my 2004 216 I got rid most of the shadowing but it was so far gone I just did not have the guts (or the history) that Jeff has to be willing to sand further. If anything, the new custom decals were so expensive I have just hesitated to try went sand it again because I would want access to the entire side not just around the decals.

NautiqueJeff , I'll message you tomorrow, My FIL is thinking about getting the carpet replaced in his 1996 Body Glove SN. It would not be a full restoration, so going to reach out and see if that line of work is up your alley.

bionaraq - thanks for the anecdote. What color is your hull? I've noticed that different gelcoat colors seem to age differently. For me, mine is black.

bionaraq We would love to replace the carpet in that Body Glove! We love working on rare Nautiques, and that definitely qualifies! Very cool boat. For those unfamiliar, this is an example of a Body Glove Edition Ski Nautique.

The dash on our 1997 Ski Nautique had some work completed today. It got all new gauges, including a GPS speedometer, as well as all new circuit breaker switches, a new horn button, and a new ignition switch. We still need to add two gauge blanks in the open holes, but electronically, it is all set! We used our typical method of wiring, including converting all possible connections to secure ring terminals with heat shrink, adding our own special custom wiring harness to the GPS speedometer, and making sure all wiring is secured with zip ties. We will probably be replacing the PerfectPass display with a multi-line display (black in color) as well.

bionaraq Oh...what an awesome color combination! That's a lovely boat. Sadly, I think all the photos in your boat and hull restoration thread are lost - NautiqueJeff had a major board event a while back and some threads lost all their attachments. :/ Too bad as I was really looking forward to checking it out.

The fact that my hosting provider didn't have a proper backup, even though they should have, is unacceptable. That's why I am doing full weekly backups of not only our database, but all of our files now.

No, we are not restoring this one. It was purchased for the windshield (in my truck) and the trailer. The rest is going elsewhere.

I always wonder how boats (or cars, planes, etc.) get this way. You just know at one time this was someone's prized possession that at some point just ended up getting shelved, ignored.

I will say where I live there are tons of high end boats that sit on lifts all season without being used or used only a couple times a year. I've also seen new top tier boats left uncovered for the entire season. Just never understood that mindset.

Back in the day I owned, restored and flipped several of those ignored boats. The hardest part in purchasing one was getting the owner to realize the condition and current market value of the boat they let get destroyed. Common lines used by the seller included....

• No lowball offers, I know that I have.
• Do you know what boats like this sell for?
• Needs a little love.
• Just needs to be cleaned up.
• Ran when I put it away.

Yesterday, our master detailer hit our client's 1992 Sport Nautique one last time, and got it absolutely shining like a mirror! We'll finally be installing the decals and pinstripes next week, after a small delay.

The windshield has been mounted on our client's 1992 Sport Nautique. This one took a little extra time to get dialed in, but it is all set now.

I see the "Ron's Marine" decal on the windshield of the 92 Sport. Ron Overberger sold a lot of Nautiques back then. Not a fancy place in Mantua, OH, but he sure knew how to sell them, especially the purple and teal in the early 90s.
