Impeller Quality

I never thought about it much but are there quality differences between impellers? I was about to do a service and noticed a big variance in pricing between known brands and those listed as equal sized knock offs.

Yes, big difference. Don't cheap out. Nothing ruins a lake day like a failed impeller.

We only use genuine Sherwood (or PCM, if not a Sherwood pump) impellers.

If you have ever hunted down impeller parts in your cooling system it will ruin more than a day on the water and possibly your wallet. It was surprising to see pricing from someone like Nautique parts to be 40% more than an Amazon option.

You have to really be careful with Scamazon these days. Tons of knockoff products that look like the real thing. Automotive parts and tool batteries are two areas that seem to get a lot of attention from scammers. I've heard and read about DeWalt battery knockoffs that even the big box stores have difficulty in determining authenticity.

Impellers are one area where I bite the bullet and purchase the name brand part. Just not worth it to have one fail. Consider it an insurance policy towards a healthy engine.
