    Ordered G23 Yanmar Diesel

Well I finished with the G21. Time to upgrade to a G23 with Yanmar Diesel. Struggled with colors so went with a really clean grey/black theme. Now the wait begins, how long you think it’ll take?

I really want to drive another G23 with the diesel engine. I wish I had spent more time in the one I did drive.

My only suggestion would be to consider a color other than Tungsten Grey. Rumor has it that there is a huge backlog on that gelcoat color, and they're having trouble getting enough of it to build boats ordered in that color. Boats ordered in that color are being pushed back in line while they wait for more gelcoat.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

I ordered my G23 today and dealer told me same about tungsten. I’ll spare all the details but suffice to say I’d steer away….very unpredictable outcomes and potentially delays.

RS curious why you went with the standard G here instead of a paragon. The way it looks like you have equipped im sure its similar price point to a paragon. Was it just for the Yanmar? If so, why do you prefer the Yanmar over the ZZ8?

Love the look of that build by the way, a neighbor of ours has a 2021 G23 in that color scheme and it looks awesome.

Good question. Well full retail is certainly comparable to a Paragon retail but I got literally every option and I figure the engine is going to be far more of an upgrade to me than the interior. This will be my fourth Nautique so I think I got a decent price, comparable to a loaded MC XstarS and that boat is nothing in comparison to this.

To answer your question why I prefer the Yanmar, running a full load most of the time on a pretty big lake, they have a gas station on the lake so it’s convenient regardless. Torque is awesome, also the thing that sold me most is the low RPM and I actually love the sound of a Diesel engine. Plus you can’t beat the time between services, I also think the resale value will be good on the boat because most people will opt for gas.

I’m sticking with the grey, I’ll wait it out I guess. Dealer figures mid winter for delivery.

Appreciate the response, makes perfect sense. We put 150-200 hours on our boat each summer and I would love the service intervals that come with the Yanmar. The torque would be great for us as well since we are over 6000' but man that 40k upcharge is tough for me to swallow.

I will say, we love our XStar but when we move to something new in a couple years a used paragon or a build similar to yours will definitely be on the short list.

Stoked to see your boat when its finished though, the color scheme looks awesome.

Now you got me thinking I’m going to price out a Paragon just to be sure.

Oh no.. haha. To be fair if I was in the same spot I would probably want the Yanmar over the interior. Those lounge seats look sweet though.

I just built a G with the diesel and about every option I could want and it came to $300k.

I would take that diesel in a second.. It will probably last FOREVER.

Yeah that’s about right I paid a lot less but I have a good relationship with the dealer. The MC dealer is on cocaine here though, they think the Xstar S is the second coming of Christ in the form of a boat. They wouldn’t negotiate, they even tried a tandem trailer just to lower their disgusting retail price . Then as soon as I saw the G23 had a Yanmar I had to do it.

Either way I’ll price out the Paragon for a final decision. I’m pretty sure my decision is made, can’t get Yanmar on the Paragon.

Ya I'm just going off of retail pricing and hoping you arent paying that much. Though I do know our local Nautique dealer is selling boats for MSRP right now which is brutal.

Xstar S does look like a good boat IMO (obviously a bit biased since I currently own a 2020) but cant argue with your choice at all. That Yanmar is going to be sweet!

On the Tungsten Grey, I am assuming just gelcoat and not seat vinyl, correct?

I ordered it on everything, tungsten grey and black -- basically those are the two colors, nothing else other than gold chromax.

Sorry, I should have been clearer, I was wondering if ordering tungsten grey seat vinyl would also result in delays, as opposed to gel coat.
