Paragon Bimini Extension

Saw this in the new hardcopy catalog. Anyone know how this works? Specifically bow and stern poles? Also, do the extensions have a frame to provide structure?

I also see the G23 has a photo with the Bimini extensions.

Any info from those with this feature would be appreciated.

I have that option on my G this year. We've used it a few times, and it is pretty cool.

The fabric clips to the regular bimini, and then the two poles go into holes in the top deck (front) and swim platform (rear), and attach to the other end of the fabric.

It works well, and stores neatly in clips under the rear seats when not in use.

If I had my boat closer I'd grab a pic for you but like Jeff said there are a couple of holes in the bow that have metal inserts in them that the poles fit into, and a matching pair of holes on the swim platform with the metal inserts down by the cup holders. The poles are somewhat flexible like a tent pole, but thicker. On top of the Bimini there are clips sewn in that the shade clips into. We haven't used ours yet but now that it's hot enough we likely will next time we are out and going to anchor for a while.

Jeff & Bird_dog, thanks for the info.

I'm assuming the extension material is not Sunbrella fabric. It is hard to tell, but looks like a mesh fabric.

I would like to create an extension like this from my bimini to help cover the rear seating. I would have to totally diy this, but the shade would be worth the effort.

If either of you could grab some photos of the setup sometime, I would really appreciate the effort. Mainly how the vertical poles attach at the fabric and how it attaches to the existing bimini.

I have had an idea of doing something similar for a long time. I have seem similar things with people using rod holders. I may have to rig something similar for my boat. Are the poles fiberglass?

I can tell you its a lot less fugly when you are frying like bacon in the Florida sun.
