Does anyone know the rules for buying from an out of area dealer? I understand not being able to buy current year model inventory from an out of area dealer, but I don't understand it when your talking leftover prior year inventory when the local dealer no longer has that product in inventory. I understand that any dealer can sell pre-owned to anyone, so it seems like a gray area to me.

Any dealer can sell any boat to anyone.
The deal is that the selling dealer is supposed to pay a (fairly substantial) fee to the local dealer if they sell a new boat out of territory.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

It was a few years ago, but I negotiated a deal with an out of town dealer on a leftover model. Then, I got my local dealer to buy it from the out of town dealer. He went and picked it up and I bought it from the local one, plus a fee for picking it up. Might be an option for you to try if your out of town dealer isn’t too far away.DTT

I have one dealer 2 hours basically straight east, a second dealer basically two hours straight south, a third dealer 2.5 hours northwest. And I recently learned that there is a fourth dealer 2.5 hours northeast.

liken warranty from the dealer who didnt get the msrp off you to going over the bridge into jersey to pull a job w/o asking permission first !

Just keep in mind you need to get it serviced. Boats are not like chevy or ford buy at dealer A and service at dealer B. I would try to work something out with your local guy.
